Interior Designer Susan Bednar Long was tasked with renovating and decorating a classic 19th-century Mas country house just outside Avignon, France. Working closely with her client Shauna Varvel and local renovation specialist, Alexandre Lafourcade, they restored and decorated the property to a classic Provence style. The goal was to create an authentic, romantic French country interior design. Starting with a handful of inherited furniture pieces, Susan efficiently designed, organized and layered carefully chosen French antiques and furnishings to feel like timeless family heirlooms collected over time. Special elements like distressed painted millwork, custom Pierre Frey fabric canopy beds, oil paintings, and antique Faience pottery give each room its beautiful character.
